A few days ago I started working on this Louis XV dresser.
I started with ‘Caput Mortum’. One of my favorite pigment.
I added it to my crafted patina. I got a faded lavender color. To it I went to overlap other tones in gradation up to the color of the final patina.
My way of proceeding is of approaching a first pigment with two others based on the inspiration of the moment.
While I paint the furniture and this ‘takes shape’ I decide whether to increase, decrease, put, remove, change.
I always start from an idea, a feeling. I watch a lot and I listen to.
At the end of the processing the colors are the color of some shells and the pink powder.
And even the color contrast of the piano matches perfectly with its shades of pink. If you had to give a name it would surely be a woman’s name ….. sinuous, curvy, delicate.
I would call it Rose, poudre rose … pink powder.
